1967 Bathurst Winner Ford XR GT Falcon #52D Harry Firth & Fred Gibson 1:43 Classic Carlectables Diecast Model
The XR became an instant success thanks to a win at Bathurst. The Ford factory supported entry was driven by Fred Gibson and Harry Firth.
The 1967 Gallaher 500 (Bathurst Race) was dominated by Falcons. However, controversy would surround the final laps. An error made when tallying up the final lap records was discovered several hours after the race had finished. The Ford entry was later declared the official winner.
Between March 1967 and February 1968 five hundred and ninety six XR GTs were built, they sold as quickly as they were produced.
The XR GT Falcon won the 1967 Wheels magazine 'Car of the Year' award.
