The Simplex Automobile Company produced one of the finest American motorcars in the pre-World War I era. The company's clientele would eventually include such wealthy families as the Rockefellers, who were known to keep more than one Simplex at their spacious garage in Pcantico Hills. Already renowned for its robust construction, four-speed transmission and double chain drive, Simplex introduced a new design in 1912 with an optional shaft drive. Sumptuously appointed and rakishly handsome, this was the last car the company made before it was sold to a New York firm.
