Just 8 months after the release of the new XR range Ford released the XR GT. Powered by a 289 cubic inch Windsor V8 motor. The XR GT was only available in one standard colour, GT Gold. Only one GT was ever made in AVIS white for one of Ford's executives. The cost of the XR GT was $3890.
