July 1962 marked the release of Australia's seventh Holden the EJ and with it came many firsts. These included the debut of the luxury Premier edition with sealed beam headlights and major braking enhancements. Of more significance though, was the fact that the One Millionth Holden was produced during the life of the EJ. This actual car can still be viewed today at the National Motor Museum at Birdwood South Australia. Powering the EJ was a 138 cubic inch (2.3 litre) version of the 'grey' engine that had powered Holdens since 1948. The 13-month lifespan of the EJ series saw 154,811 of the model produced until it was replaced in August by the upgraded but similar looking EH.
