With more luxury and more chrome than the Standard model, the EK Special was the choice of business executives and well to do families of the time. During its life, Holden manufactured some 150,214 EK models in total. This Trax release features for the first time, Holden's introduction of three-speed "Hydromatic" auto transmission.
Features Include:
With the Trax EK Models came the new Code G stype of packaging with the clear Perspex window. As was the case with the FB, three colour schemes were released; one Special and two Standard versions. Intricate detail was a feture of these first EK models and none more so than the distinctive 'ruby enamelled' bonnet motif. One disappointment though was the lettering style on the boot. The same 'H-O-L-D-E-N' script from the FB appeared instead of 'HOLDEN' - despite being correct on our signed off for production sample. Two further EK Specials were added to the range in 2000; one as a rare single colour in Carlsbald black (TR21E), the other a Barrier Coral/Dusk Plum two-tone (TR21D). TR21E was a limited production of 4,000 units.
