As was the case with the real car, Trax needed to initiate some minor tooling mods to produce an HG Monaro from the existing HT model that it succeeded and included revised tail light clusters and front grille, new exterior badting and 'sidewinder' body stripes. This 'makeover' approach only served to confirm that the HG was indeed a stopgap model while awaiting the boldly redesigned HQ series that would appear in 1971.
